Troubleshooting Tips

If you're having a little trouble in our techie world, here are some common tips to help.

Firstly, make sure that you have installed and registered your iKydz Home or iKydz Pro device correctly. To do this, follow the Quick Starter guides that come with your iKydz device or take a look at our tutorials above.
You connect your children’s devices to the iKydz network just like you would connect to any other WiFi network.
  1. Go to the Wifi Network icon on the PC or the WiFi setting on the tablet or phone.
  2. Select IKYDZ from the list of available WIFI networks
  3. Enter the password ikydzwifi when prompted. Then press Connect.
Your child’s device will then appear on your iKydz app under the WIFI Devices tab.
If, during installation and registration of your iKydz Home or iKydz Pro device, the registration page does not appear automatically, then the problem is usually that the cables have been connected incorrectly. Please refer back to your Quick Starter guide or the Tutorials above to ensure that all cables are connected correctly.
If you have an iKydz Original device, the registration page does not appear automatically during registration. Again, please follow the Quick Starter guide that comes with your device to ensure successful registration.

How to register iKydz Home - Wan Port

Make sure that you have connected your PC, laptop or tablet to the iKydz network. If the registration page does not show automatically, then open your web browser and in the address bar type ‘https://register.ikydz.com’.
If you have a range extender or other LAN devices connected to your router, unplug them during the registration process. Once registration of your iKydz device is complete, you can then re-connect your other LAN Devices and range extenders.
After entering your registration details, our latest iKydz firmware will download to your iKydz device. Depending on your broadband speed this may take a few minutes. When the download is complete, the iKydz device will reboot – this may take another minute. Please be patient! It is important to allow this time for iKydz to fully initialise.
If this occurs, there are two possible issues.
  1. There may be a fault with the USB port of your router and the iKydz device is not receiving enough power. Try powering the iKydz device by connecting the USB end of the iKydz power cable to a standard USB adaptor plug and plugging it in directly to a mains supply. This usually resolves the issue.
  2. Otherwise, there may be a fault in the supplied ethernet cable or in the LAN Port of the router. Try connecting to a different LAN port in your router. If that does not resolve the issue, try using a different ethernet cable than the one supplied. If the problem persists, then you can contact our support team HERE.
Make sure the device is connected to the iKydz Network. Check out ‘How do I connect a device to my iKydz Network’ above to make sure that you have connected the device to the iKydz network.
It may take a few moments for a device that has just been connected to the iKydz Network to appear on your WIFI tab in your iKydz app.
Schedules and Filter Lists must be assigned to each device separately. You do this by clicking onto the ‘WIFI’ tab in the app (or ‘My Devices’ page in Customer Portal), choose a device and then apply your schedules and Filter list.
This way, you can manage each device individually. For example, you may wish to restrict access to certain social media sites for a younger child, but you are happy to allow an older teenager to have free access. Likewise, sleep time and study time will likely be different for children of different ages.
We recommend that the first time you add your children’s devices to the iKydz Network, you do so one-by-one. As you connect each device to the iKydz network, you can easily rename them in your iKydz app or using your Customer Portal. You do this by changing the device name on the screen or via the App by tapping on the name and typing in the name you wish to use, e.g. Jane’s iPad, Michael’s Phone.
Firstly, make sure that the schedules that you have created have been applied to your children’s devices.
Alternatively, your child may have disconnected from the iKydz Network and is using your existing home network. To prevent this, you need to change the WiFi password on your home network. Remember, you will also need to reconnect your own devices that are using the home network when the password is changed.
